Custom metadata are additional properties with values that users can add to keys to provide more context and details. Such properties can be carried over upon importing and exporting keys.

Supported types of custom metadata are:

  • Text (up to 65,535 characters)

  • Short string (up to 255 characters)

  • Number

  • Multi-select

  • Single-select

  • Date

  • Links

  • Boolean

Due to continuous improvements, the user interface may not be exactly the same as presented in the video.

Existing custom metadata properties are accessible to all users in the Custom metadata page.

When assigned to a project, custom metadata properties will be visible for each key in the Strings editor. The Custom metadata section of the contextual sidebar allows to add or edit values of the available properties.

Custom metadata are not supported in branched projects.

Custom Metadata Page

The Custom metadata page is accessible by selecting Custom metadata from the left-side navigation panel.

Custom metadata properties are presented in a table with relevant information. Click on the desired property to open the Custom property window and display more details about it.

Search and Filter Custom Metadata

Use the search field at the top of the page to filter the list of custom metadata by name.

To display only properties assigned to specific projects, click on the All projects dropdown menu and select one or multiple projects to filter the list.

To display only certain types of properties, click on the All types dropdown menu and select one or multiple types to filter the list.

The searching and filtering options in the Custom metadata page can be combined to refine search results.

Users can also search for custom metadata properties through the Advanced search in the Strings editor and global search.

Add Custom Metadata

Custom metadata can only be added by:

  • Owners

  • Admins

  • Project managers (on assigned or own projects)

To add a new custom metadata property, follow these steps:

The Create new property window is displayed.

  2. Provide required information in the relevant fields:

    • Property name must be unique.

    • Select the property type from the Type dropdown.

      • For Single select and Multi select property types, specify values in the Values field and press Enter.

    • Description is optional.

    • Select one or multiple projects to assign the new property to from the Assigned projects dropdown.

  3. Click Save.

The newly created property is added to the list of custom metadata.
