Clicking on a TB from the panel or a project page opens the term base page.
-
New terms (not approved) are displayed with grey status.
-
Forbidden terms are indicated with a checkmark
in the column.
-
The term concept (source term, target term, synonyms) is displayed as a block of rows distinguished with white and grey background colors.
-
System-defined term attributes and user-defined custom fields (if any) are displayed in columns that can be customized by clicking Customize.
Dependent on user rights:
-
The attributes of a term base can be edited.
-
A TB can be deleted. This moves the TB to the recycle bin where it will remain for 30 days.
-
Content can be searched for individual entries requiring editing. Wildcards are supported and the results can be filtered. New searches reset the filter.
-
Content can be imported from other TBs or other CAT tools.
-
Content of a TB can be exported for editing in another CAT tool and imported back (options are in the
menu at the top of the page).
-
Terms can be added, deleted and edited.
The table presents all projects a specific TB is associated with.
Note
Once added, target languages cannot be removed from a TB as long as:
-
There is a single entry in the TB (even if only in the other target languages).
-
The TB is used in an existing project.
-
The TB is used in any project template.
Managing Languages in a Term Base
Languages can be added to an existing term base at any time via Edit term base. Adding languages always succeeds. A language can only be removed from a term base when all of the following conditions are true:
-
The term base contains no terms in any language. Empty concepts (concepts with no terms attached) do not count as a blocker.
-
The term base is not assigned to any project, regardless of that project's status. Completed and cancelled projects count.
-
The term base is not used in any project template.
When the conditions are met, the language is moved to the Inactive list in the Edit dialog and the term base is saved with Update term base. If removal is blocked, the save fails with the error: "Languages can only be removed from an empty term base which isn't assigned to a project or project template." If several languages are removed at once and the check fails for any of them, none are removed.
If removal is not possible, the recommended workaround is to export the term base as an XLSX file, create a new term base configured with only the languages to keep, and import the file into it. The new term base then needs to be reassigned to the relevant projects and templates.
Note: adding |delete to a TID in an exported XLSX removes the terms for a specific language but does not remove the language itself from the term base.
