Symbols and special characters are used to preserve formatting, manage non-translatable content, or adhere to linguistic and technical requirements. Most Unicode character sets are supported.

Non-breaking space
Prevents a line break between words or characters, often used between numbers and units.

En-dash (–) and em-dash (—)
Used for ranges or as punctuation in sentences.

Non-breaking hyphen (‑)
Ensures a hyphenated word or phrase stays together on the same line, preventing awkward breaks.

New line
Used to create a line break without starting a new paragraph, ensuring better text flow in some contexts.

Soft hyphen
Used to control word breaks without displaying a hyphen unless the word splits across lines.
To add a symbol or special character to a segment, follow these steps:

From an unlocked source or a target segment, place the cursor where the character or symbol is required.

From the menu
, select , and either choose one of the common symbols (most with keyboard shortcuts), or continue with .
The
window opens. -
Select the required character set from the dropdown menu.

Either double click on the required symbol or select the symbol and click Insert.
The character or symbol is added to the segment as well as a list of
symbols. -
Click Close.
The character or symbols will be visible in the segment.
