Salesforce Knowledge is an online content management system that helps businesses with their marketing, sales, and commerce needs. The connector is for both the Classic and the Lightning versions of Salesforce Knowledge.

The Source language of a project must match the Default language of Salesforce Knowledge configured in Knowledge Settings. English in Salesforce is actually English (United States) full locale.

The connector imports all updatable fields that have either string or textarea datatypes.

Note

As of November 1, 2022, the connector supports continuous localization workflows. If using these workflows, modifying an existing connector will not enable the functionality and a new connector must be created.

Use Cases

There are a number of use cases for the connector:

  • Project managers can add files directly to projects from an online repository. Only documents that match the connector's source language or don't have any language set are listed.

  • Set up the submitter portal allowing Submitters to add files to requests directly from the online repository. Only documents that match the connector's source language or don't have any language set are listed.

  • Use automated project creation (APC) to have new projects automatically created when a change in the last modified date is detected for monitored files or a folder.

    • Selected files are imported the very first time APC runs.

Article Workflow Recommendations

Translating source articles

To allow article authors to manually trigger translations, follow these steps:

  1. Add a new custom field in Salesforce Knowledge.

The recommended type is Picklist with three values:

    • Translate

    • Translation in Progress

    • Translation Completed

  2. Configure the connector to monitor articles with a specific value in a specific field (e.g. Translate in field called Workflow_stage__c ensuring the API Name and not the Field Name or Label is used).

The author applies this label to articles when ready for translation.

To notify the author when the article translation is complete:

  • Configure the connector to update a specific field with specific value when the translation is pushed to Salesforce Knowledge.

Phrase TMS Settings

Important

If accessing from a custom domain (ex. mydomain.phrase.jp), open an incognito browser window and log in via cloud.memsource.com or us.cloud.memsource.com to apply the authentication required for the creation or saving of the connector. After saving, the connector can be accessed via the custom domain.

  1. From the Settings Setup_gear.png page, scroll down to the Integrations section.

  2. Click on Connectors.

    The Connectors page opens.

  3. Click New.

    The Create page opens.

  4. Provide the name of the host.

  5. Optionally define when articles are to be translated based on field status.

  6. Optionally define a field in the source articles to be changed to a selected value (e.g. translation ready) when the first translation is exported.

  7. Optionally define field status on post-translation.

  8. Select what status translations should have.

  9. Provide Translate to languages specified in (APC).

Automated project creation only creates jobs for languages specified in the custom field identified by its Field Name (e.g. Target_Languages__c). The field type should be the multi-value picklist, where the values use language codes as the API Names.

  10. Click Connect to Salesforce.

A checkmark will appear if the connection was successful. A red exclamation point will appear if it wasn't. Hover over the icon to see additional details.

  11. Click Save.

The connector is added to the list on the Connectors page.
