Translation Memories (Strings)

Enabling and Managing the Translation Memory (Strings)

Content is machine translated from English by Phrase Language AI.

Importing translation data in .TMX format into the translation memory (TM) is not supported in Phrase Strings.

To reuse an existing .TMX file, import it as keys into a project and share the project's content with the organization-wide TM. Alternatively, upload the .TMX file into a TM in Phrase TMS and use the Job Sync connector to leverage its data when translating content in Strings.

Enable the Translation Memory

  1. Click on Translation memory in the left-side menu to view the corresponding page.

  2. Under the Connected projects section, select the projects that will share the same organization-wide translation memory. To assign all existing projects at once, click on the Project name checkbox at the top of the list.

  3. Click on Update settings at the bottom of the page to apply the changes.

Translation memory sharing can also be enabled for each project individually in the project settings:

  1. In the Projects page, hover the mouse on the desired project and click on More/Project settings from the drop-down menu at the top.

The Project settings window will be displayed.

  2. Select Advanced in the left-side menu of the window to view the corresponding settings.

  3. Scroll down to find the Share translation memory option and check it to enable translation memory sharing for the project.

  4. Click on Save at the bottom right of the window to apply the changes.

Exclude Projects from the Translation Memory

To exclude a project from the organization-wide translation memory to prevent unwanted suggestions, follow these steps:

  1. Click on Translation memory in the left-side menu to view the corresponding page.

  2. Under the Connected projects section, uncheck the box next to the project to be excluded.

  3. Click on Update settings at the bottom of the page to apply the changes.

Once disconnected, suggestions from the excluded project will no longer appear in the organization-wide translation memory.
